In many ancient cultures (Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Chinese) it was found traces of people measuring their strength by lifting weights and the weights are generally stones.

Since the beginning of civilization people have been fascinated by power and strength. In many ancient cultures (Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Chinese) it was found traces of people measuring their strength by lifting weights and the weights are generally stones.

Since then the sports evolved and improved into a lot of stages since it was first recognize with its first official competition held on 1891 in London. The first Modern Olympic Games in Greece, Athens of 1896 Weightlifting was already on the program.

At present, the sport of Weightlifting developed simplified procedures and more modern categories has been introduced with additional standard of policies and procedures to be followed for a more presentable and respectable competition in sport.

Rightfully, it is my fragile responsibility to uphold and maintain the sport’s reputation for more than 100 years now. But I am very confident that with my dedication towards the sports combined with my friends, associates and colleagues in the Federation’s support with their expertise, the Asian Federations efforts for many years which resulted to today’s spirit and repute of Weightlifting in Asia being famous and the biggest by continent will always be in line with success maintaining the spirit of sportsmanship and the good relations among its members.
